Conrad Treasury Casino Brisbane

Posted by siok shen

done with all our boring long assignments, we went hunting for good valueable food.
though we just eaten mamak food yesterday, we are not yet contempted. perhaps we are looking for something more authentic and elegant food.
and we found it suprisingly by ourselves, three quirky ladies.
so now i shall present to you guys
Brisbane most famous casino,
Conrad Treasury Casino

and
we actually dine in the casino there.
in fact, we are the first three to actually enter the casino among my group of friends.
beaming with pride.

doesn't this reminds you of america's next top model poses?
muahaha..
credit to the talented photographer, miss koo.
that's the entrance of the casino.
rules of appearance : covered shoes, no thongs, no super shorts, no singlets...

the casino has six or more levels.. we weren't really sure for we weren't allowed to enter certain levels.. but i do love the staircase for sure.
the casino is really an english style building. used to be a treasury building decades ago.
those decorations are so 1880's..
i'm lovin it.

stairway to elengance and sopshication.

all the aisles at each floor are so different.
i love this aisle pretty a lot cause at the end of the aisle was one extremely high class restaurant, marco polo.

and they actually have a 5-star rating bathroom.
man..this is way to cool.
this casino is seriously like what i saw in las vegas series.

vainity gotten the most of us.

and even more???
but those bathrooms are seriously a place that i want to bath in.

food aisle with food pictures.
how can shen possibly resist all those temptations of food?
growling stomach.. >_<

WARNING : i totally went berserk seeing this super cool restaurant, marco polo. i am warning to all my friends in brisby that this is where my birthday would be celebrated. negotiations are not allowed.

the other mysterious aisle. love all those doors along the corridors. like a castle.

babes cam- whoring using the mirrors on each level.

thankfully i am 18+.. or else i would miss all these fun and good food.

i am in love with this picture.
it is so old and antique look.
with such a pretty well fitted lady in it.
wakkaka...kidding.
i am not that thick faced i guess.

emperor's and empress's chairs.

pondering on the comfy big couch.
this is the hotel level.
we aren't supposed to enter here but somehow we managed to sneak in and get a peak of the WOW WOW hotel at the first entrance.

classy sofas.

thomas edison's lamp.
do you believe me?
you better do.

babes posing using a table top.
sexy-licious.

finally a picture of the three of us.

getting so much comfort in such a lovely place activate my sleepy mode.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

if i were to ever reborn again, do make me live in this kind of place.

Pastano
our finest dining of western dish in Brisbane, Australia
for a freaking cheap price below AUS 15.
for a main course meal, an assorted cake and coffee.
call us genius for landing on such a great restaurant.

fantastic value for great food.

i finally found my love, choc mud cake.
once was my favourite cake in secret recipe back in malaysia.
and eating it again makes me SMILE.
my favourite cake.

choc mud cake, cheese cake, lime cheese cake.
fuh.... sedap dimakan.

my main course meal.
yeah i know it looks ugly in the picture but trust me it taste good. more than good in fact.
chicken mushroom with mash potatoes.

clean sparkling plate within 5 minutes.
we were really overexcited with our massive food.
and in fact we were like the youngest customer in the restaurant and in the whole casino.
i had a splendid time in the Treasury casino and i definitely would love to return there again.
this is definitely a must place to visit in Brisbane city.

xoxo,
shen shen.

MAMAK Night 2009

Posted by siok shen

Mamak night = friday night
one of our finest dining of Malaysian food in Brisbane, Australia.

organized by the UQMSA (University of Queensland Malaysian Association) and that event is definitely a must must event for me with those authentic Malaysian food served. food like kuih muih, karipap ( my favourite), roti canai ( my best + my favourite), rendang ayam... those are the food that will drool me. wait a minute i thought i drool over all the food. lol.

mamak night wasn't really a formal social event.. it is more like a simple gathering of malaysians in aussie country. despite the gloomy rainy weather, i could not stop myself from dressing up. my first pair of boots and thighs. embarrassingly i admited that i wasted lots of time in just choosing what to wear.
guess i am putting on weight pretty quickly recently. 'pui arms' as quoted by him.ish... pui is not the same as slightly fleshier though. self-defence.

well you can't possibly put the blame on me for being vain. as a matter of fact, i living with two even more vain ladies. lol. my housemates. my pretty babes.

this is what i claimed as paradise in tummy.
omg..i love those roti canai.. and curry. ultimate perfection and satisfaction to my taste bud.

greedily eating my food. oopsss..

my loveable senior, huda who let us stayed in her house for a couple of weeks despite us being noisy and noobs in Brisbane. we love kak huda to pieces. it is such a blessing knowing you.

ta da~~~~~~~~~
clean sparkling plate.
all the food in my tummy.

mamak night is never complete without pictures and pictures.

that's our popular chong hao with his friends and our seniors.

and this my kakis.....
my buds in brisbane.
THANKS UQMSA for bringing me back into my hometown again even just for a few hours.

Perfume Addiction

Posted by siok shen

perfume addictions started since the day i moved to indooropilly. leaving just opposite the mall, it is really hard to stop yourselves from peeking into the mall every weekends.. with myer in the mall, it is even irresistible. myer is something we shall call like parkson back in malaysia where they have this level which sells cosmetics and perfumes only. leaving with a housemate who loves perfume and another housemate who starts to love perfume, dropping by at that sections seems pretty easy. so we actually smelled all the types of perfume that we ended up feeling giddy for not able to differentiate anyone of them at all. hahahaa...coffee beans are strongly required in that circumstances. so here is a review perfumes by shen. well, just a few of those that i really love a lot.....

Flora by Gucci
i am totally in love with this perfume. it smells really floral and pretty sweet in a way. what i love about this perfume it doesn't really smell old and suits young people like us. the bottle is sleek too and simple. and i am so gonna say every penny now to get this perfume to treat myself. yes yes that's my aim for now.
flora gucci mummy is gonna get you

DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom
This is indeed a fantastic perfume. the smell wasn't strong at all that will twitch your nose. it is a simple perfume that smells so refreshing. i believe this perfume will suits all those who doens't really love heavy smells of perfume. if i am not mistaken, this is limited edition so preferably get it now before it is over. and that's the perfume that koo shuk kuan owns.
Viva Juicy Couture
This has a really cute bottle and initially, i disliked this perfume because it smells to0 sweet and strong. but as time passes by, the smell of this perfume on your body will reduce into a milder one amazingly. so the first few minutes when you used it, it smells really really fruity and too sweet but as time passes by, it cools down and become a milder sweeter smell which i love it for sure
Daisy by Marc Jacobs.
Those adorable caps make this perfume even more attractive and catchy. Daisy smells really good and pretty elegant. It smells a little mature though compared to Flora by Gucci thus it suits more for those young working people. But in short, i love this perfume too and it works best for working community
Pretty by Elizabeth Arden
Pretty smells different too and it was predicted that this perfume will be one of the top sellers. Though the bottle looks pretty cliche and simple, it smells great. but not really my kind after two to three times of smelling. maybe it smells a bit heavy and suits matured people more.

p/s: this review is solely based on my personal opinions.

The Battle of Sara Lee

Posted by siok shen

sara lee's ice cream - must have item in our refrigerator.
not just one but triple!!!!! hahaha...three girls addicted to sara lee's icecream.
come on.. give a guess which is mine.
pretty simple guessing with the express eating rate of mine.

this is such a random post which i have no idea for posting it up.
but finally i have completed two of my assignments in a row... which is a minor 'merdeka' just for a few hours before i resumed into stress mode again.

how can we possibly not love our huge spacious living room?
by the way, i just realised that most of the furnitures in my house are made in malaysia.
should i be proud or the other way round? >_<

3 piggy in the house.
pig 2, pig 3 and pig 1.

so if you are studying in Australia, go treat yourself with sara lee's ice cream.
i bet you will have a second one for sure.

AM I DOOMED IN 2009?

Posted by siok shen

AM I DOOMED THIS YEAR?
that's the only question that keeps replaying around my mind.
i told myself it wasn't true.
but with more things happening around me, i am totally devastated.
nothing goes smoothly ever since i was in Brisbane.
first from the house not having electricity to moving out from the house and going through all the troubles for searching a new one to forgetting to bring usb disk for presentation and to MY TUTOR losing my test paper and now i am being blamed for not taking the test.
could life be that miserable?
what is life all about when it is all about unfortunates and unluckiness?
what's the point of having a life when you can't even live in peace not even for a single week?
what is life when it is only filled with worries?
i don't want to be doomed. nobody wants.
i just want everything to go smoothly and is it that hard?
what's the point of helping others to score in their test when you can't even have your own paper being graded?
what's the point?
i don't understand life.

Dressing Up = Girl's Best Friend

Posted by siok shen

WARNING : This is an extremely cam-whoring pictures display, not suitable for people who hates repetitive pictures with same clothes and poses. Do not proceed with this post if you don't like self-taken pictures. Thank you.

AUTUMN SEASON

inspired from the post of my sister blog about the way she dresses up, i decided i should upload on a similar post too. i really do respect my sister for her fantastic dressing up skills and quality and taste on clothes, unlike me who is still a baby in that area, taking up my pace day by day. hopefully i am on the right path though.
so i shall start with autumn season first. mix-matching is truly a fun thing to do. a simple shirt dressed up in a thousands ways. splurge into your creativity and that's what you're going to present to the public. ransack your wardrobe and make full use of what you have in it, making the best out of it.

dressing up is not about impressing other people. it is more about feeling good of your body (Shen 2008)

wakaka... self proclaimed quote for once.

at current, i am having fetish over manly shirts. i used to have it back in Malaysia but i wasn't really aware of the right way to dress it till recently. lol.

being a girl is pretty fun, dressing up and mix matching one pieces with another..
feeling proud when it looks good. lol
ignore the messy bed though.

autumn season is the best season i shall like by far.

the weather wasn't really cold and wasn't really hot either.
and that makes my dressing easier.
simple t-shirt and short pants shall do the magic.

as the autumn reaches the end, it gets pretty chilly with strong wind despite the sun shining over you. but perhaps my cold tolerance is pretty high and i am still capable of withstanding the bizzare weather.
the autumn in Brisbane is pretty much like summer in Melbourne.

pashmina has recently become one of the ladies must have accessories. well not for ladies only but for the guys too.
this pasheman was bought from cotton on for ten bucks only.
pretty much a good buy because a pashmina usually costs more than twenty.

as the days get colder, scarf will definitely comes in handy or perhaps some kind of sweater or cardigan shirt shall do the work. pretty much simple dressings that don't require much hassle.

WINTER PREPARATION

as the weather gets colder day by day, my elle jacket, my blue velvet hoodie or my brown jacket ( all those originated from INTEC) could not keep me warm anymore..... I had two winter clothing from my sister and they are pretty cool but i was really hoping for a hoodie simply because you feel warm in a hoodie without any restriction in your movements.
so my search for hoodies begin.

Little Miss Sunshine hoodie is pretty cool.
costs AUS 49.95 but i got it for free.
because when i went to pay for both items ; my tights and the hoodie.. the counter lady scanned the tights only and did not scan the hoodie. i did not realised it until i walked out from the shop. i paid AUS 19.95 only instead of AUS 69.95.
yeah i know it is pretty much like cheating. i was feeling guilty all evening. but after much assurance from my friends, i realised it wasn't my fault. the counter lady was busy chatting with her friends that she overlooked it.
lol but that would definitely be my best buy for sure.
not even a buy in fact.

i'm fallin in love more and more with my sunshine hoodie.
btw, check out koo's brand new hottie jacket. hehehe..doesn't she looks hot in it? yeah baby.

since my previous hoodie was free, i thought i could just get another one.
this one worth only AUS29.95. i love this hoodie because the materials are fleece, just like my little green blankie that keeps me warm every night.

shall be updating more about my hopefully getting better sense of fashion.
till then,

shen.

My Coolest Bio Practical

Posted by siok shen

previous time i used to think dissections experiments are the best.
even according to the joy reflected from my vet science friends that dissecting pracs are the best.
however,
i just discovered one of the coolest pracs that i have ever attended by far.
no boring procedures, no laggy waiting for results and definitely no parallax or whatever errors we shall get.
this practical is absolutely all about OBSERVATIONS.
just bring your eyes into the lab and you will learn lots of new stuffs.
so the bio prac that i recently attended was called INTEGRATIONS.
initially, i thought it was going to be another lame boring labs instead
we ended up in a different laboratory lab filled with many different kind of specimens.
and i meant real human specimens.
unfortunately we were not allowed to take any pictures for we have to respect the dead.
what i saw was something really cool!! and no words can really descirbe it right.
specimens such as human brains with faces and skins still attached to it............ let me think of the best way to describe. it is pretty much like you cut your head into half where the outer you can see those eyes and mouth and nose while the inner layer is all the brains, nerves..and i could even see how those tongue are connected. this way too cool.
some of those specimens' eyes are closed while others are open which is kinda creepy though.
we even saw hands and legs and fingers and toes.
with skin still on it and we touched it too. some were really creepy as they looked pretty fresh while they rest looked pretty acceptable. for fingers example, you still have the top part of the skins with nails on it but the bottom parts are all bones only. gory i shall say.

and well the best organ that i enjoyed the most is undeniably the heart. heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! huhuhu... it is really cool to see real heart, human heart with different sizes and conditions.
we get to compare between a normal heart with a valve failure heart..
we even saw a heart with pacemaker in it.. trust me they are way too cool.
and everything we learn in textbook seems so real finally.

maybe you're bored with my descriptions but just one sentence- my best prac ever! in fact learning human anatomy is pretty cool and fun too compared to those boring drugs names.
lol.

xoxo,
the horrified shen.

My Mummy,
You are my "supermom" in the whole world..
and I'm your "tinyhero" who always break the rules...

i am your tinyhero too trying to impress you from time to time...
you always protect me with your "magic touch" & "mighty hands"...
You never let me down even if I'm so close to be "terminated" from the universe
We may have fights, but you will always be my mother.
I would like you to know I love You
and
I hope you have the Best Mother's Day yet.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

If I had a flower for each time I thought of My Mother, I could walk in my garden forever.

through the years are appreciated more

Wishing you

With lots of love from shen.

My mum is the best in my eye and in my world.

Wesak Day in Brisbane

Posted by siok shen

Would you ever thought that you would celebrate wesak day in an all-English country?
definitely not for me.
i always thought that when i am in overseas studying, the Chinese cultures and celebrations will have to be left behind
and that was totally wrong.
because i just had my very first wesak day celebration in Brisbane, Australia.
not any minor event
but a grand one!!!!

Brisbane's wesak day was held in Southbank.
red lanterns greet us upon our arrival at the place.
which really gives me the Chinese atmosphere.
just like my hometown back in jonker street, malacca.

they even sold Chinese trinkets and decorations which is really exciting.
and pretty much reminded me of chinese new year decorations.

wishing pond. flip a coin and may you wish come true.

the Buddha statue.
i had never bathed one back in Melaka because this wasn't a Malaccan culture but it was popular in other states and now i experienced it.
so, mummy daddy i celebrated a pretty much different wesak day.

they even had the seven lotus too which indicated the sevens steps taken by the Prince Siddhartha once he was born

i cannot believe that they even have guan yin statue over there.
and i can't comment anything bad about the celebration organised by the Brisbane City Council.
it was something that deserved to be praised.

make a wish and hang it below the laughing buddha.
in fact i made many wishes yesterday.
i even lighted the candle for my whole family.
the staffs there told me that the candle will be lighted through out the whole celebration.
and i choose good health for my family.

some cultural performances which sometimes i don't really enjoyed.
perhaps i am someone not with culture appreciation.

we spend our whole day at Southbank,
enjoying a chinese celebration in an english country.
we ate vegetarian food too ranging from laksa to char keow tiao to raddish cake to roti canai to tea herbal boiled egg.
i had a splendid wesak celebration in Brisbane.
hehee..

My Sweet Little Home

Posted by siok shen

that's a sneak preview of my cosy little home.
well my previous home was pretty much cosy too but in term of elengance and technologies, obviously the dominance is taken by my new home :
5/19, Vincent Street, Indooroopilly,4068 QLD.
that my heaven baby.

shen's and koo's room.
or more like a playroom?
hahahaah that's our colourful quilt (kiddy version) which we got for only AUS30 each.

our majestic shoe rack!!!
i assume everyone first reaction would be......
"OMG!!! THERE ARE SO MANY SHOES!!! ARE THEY SELLING SHOES?"
you can't blame us when there are 3 girls living together.

that is my favourite part in the whole house.
the kitchen.
yup yup that place to be in.

that's the aisle that leads to the living room.
don't mind me boasting about my house. we went through a lot before we landed on this great house.
our house looks pretty much like a 5 star apartment. right? yes.

our dining room
the place where three of us taste our own culinary skills.

our dining room.
the comfort when i am watching so you think you can dance, the Simpson's, the biggest loser, master chef..etc.etc.etc.
for a tv addict like me, this living room is simply perfect.

my proudest presentation in my blog.
my flat screen plasma tv!!!!!
with built in dvd player.
just connect your usb player and rock your music loud!
how cool is that?
totally flat screen.
wow..
triple wow.

our spacious balcony. hehehe
with the huge table.
that the place we had our house warming.

that's my working paradise. err. not really.
more likely to be the place that i last wanna be on.
the place that freaks me out.
the place filled with stress.
my studying place.

our miniature closet.
though small, it still fits all our clothes.
which is good actually
because it constricts my buying.

our bathroom
there are two actually in my house.
this one is koo and mine.
looks sparkling clean right? cause we keep it clean.

guess that's pretty much of my house.
and that's the mirror huge huge mirror of our closet.
kinda great for vain girls like us.
viewing our reflections every morning before going to uni
has become part of our must must routine.
